| Download Festival 2009 Sadly due to arriving late I was unable to catch Hollywood Undead. The First band that I saw that day was The Blackout (3/5), playing catchy tunes such as ‘We Are The Children of The Night’ and doing a medley of Korn’s Blind, Faith No More’s Epic and Limp Bizkit’s Break Stuff the duo vocalist had the crowd cause absolute mayhem. There was so much energy after The Blackout played and the organisers of Download could not have picked a band that could drain all that energy in 30 seconds than Staind (0/5). They played a 30 minute set and unfortunately I can’t get those 30 minutes back. No movement from the crowd or most of the band for that matter! Thankfully, Billy Talent (3/5) picked up where The Blackout left off. They played a variety of old and new songs such as ‘Try Honesty’ ‘Line And Sinker’ and new tunes such as ‘Rusting In The Rain’. The crowd went mental when they heard the intro for ‘Devil In A Midnight Mass’. Killswitch Engage (3.5/5) took the energy and took it to another level. Guitarist Adam running wild on the stage dressed in nothing but short shorts and a wrestling mask. The wall of death was called and that summed up Killswitch Engage’s set. The next band was the moment that everyone here was waiting for, I am obviously talking about Limp Bizkit (5/5). Wes Borland came onto the stage with the body paint on just like old times. The roar from the crowd when Fred Durst ran onto the stage was unbelievable. Then to make everyone’s day Wes strummed the first 2 notes to ‘Break Stuff’. The whole of Donnington, from front to back, was bouncing. They then went through classics such as ‘My Generation’ ‘Rollin’ and ‘Nookie’. Any band would have a tough time following on from Limp Bizkit’s set, not for Korn (5/5). They simply blew my mind away with the heaviness of their sound and overall performance. Seeing 80,000 people singing along all the words to ‘Right Now’ and ‘Freak On A Leash’ changed the way I see music as a whole. And, finally the band that everyone wanted to see, after 10 of hiatus they’re back. Faith No More (5/5) took the crowds breath away with every song they played. Unfortunately, I got knocked out in the mosh pit after sustaining 4 punches to the head. Luckily I woke up to catch my 2 favourite songs ‘Ashes to Ashes’ and ‘Epic’. They finished their set with everyone wanting more. All in all it was the best line-up I have ever seen in years.
